Honourable Henna Virkkunen, the Minister of Education and Science of Finland, in Namibia 31 January – 4 February 2010

Honourable Henna Virkkunen, the Minister of Education and Science of Finland, will visit Namibia on January 31st – February 4th 2010. 

Minister Virkkunen has accepted the invitation of Honourable Nangolo Mbumba, the Minister of Education of Namibia, to participate the “Joint Namibia-Finland Education Workshop: Sharing the Best Practices in Higher Education. Cooperation and Friendship Spanning over Three Centuries”. The workshop will take place in Windhoek on 2-3 February. Minister Virkkunen, who will give the Keynote address in the workshop, will be accompanied by a group of Finnish education experts. Minister Virkkunen will also meet the Right Honourable Prime Minister Nahas Angula and representatives of UNAM and Polytech and visit Oshikoto region where the Finnish Church has been active since 1870.

During Minister Virkkunen´s visit it is expected that a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the future cooperation between the Finnish Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Education of Namibia will be signed.
